History & Architecture
Good old times
Roner (pronounced in our dialect "Runa") means broken and rotten tree trunks in the moor.
There is data about our alpine history dating back to 1930, and this typical picture: The mountain people get a visit from the photographer. The lump of butter tuber is not chopped off as usual, but very formally cut down in portions with a knife. The saying on the lodge most probably comes from the photographer; despite the mistakes it does not seem to miss the effect.
The Alm-Mähen (alpine mowing) brought a change in the rural working world of the servants and maids. Done happily and often under the most difficult conditions that are hardly imaginable today. This hard life at 1832 m, from the woodwork to the milking and from the cheesemaking to the grazing, all in the most difficult handwork, characterized the people of that time. Faces and minds often drawn by strain and poverty. And yet there is a radiance in their eyes, a look of contentment, bliss and modesty.
In 1952 the "Runeralm" with 22-hectare alpine area was sold by Johann Mair "Liner" to Genovefa Volgger, married Widmann (Unternoferin)
In 1960 the Italian military used the "Runeralm" as a winter camp
In 1978 the Widmann family starts serving guests
